Subject: We NEED your help to keep our pools open!

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP THE TIGARD AND TUALATIN SWIM CENTERS FROM CLOSING!!!

If you care about keeping the two pools open in our community, we need you to attend a minimum of one city council meeting or the Tigard Tualatin School Board meeting in the next two weeks.

Ask your friends and your neighbors to attend.  You do not need to speak at these meetings, just show up so the city council can see that there is support for the pools.

If you can’t attend the meeting, send the city council members an email.  Just a simple email will do asking them to support keeping the pools open.  Or, elaborate a little more

and say why the pools are important to you...swim lessons for our children, competitive programs, exercise, fun, etc.

You can send one email to all of Tualatin's city council members, by going to:

www.ci.tualatin.or.us/government/CityCouncil.cfm

The email addresses for Tigard's city council members are at:

www.tigard-or.gov/city_hall/city_council/meet_council.asp

But please, it has never been more important than now!  The school district is funding one pool to stay open to allow us time to get the aquatic district formation on the ballot measure.  If we cannot get the cities approval, we cannot get this on the ballot in May 2010.  The school district could then decide to no longer fund the one pool to stay open, so we could be looking at having both pools closed permanently next month!!!

Here are the dates and times of the upcoming meetings:

8/5 (Wednesday) - King City council meeting: 7:00pm,

King City city hall, 15300 SW 116th, King City

8/11 (Tuesday) -Tigard city council meeting: 7:30pm,

Of course, don't forget the Community Pool Party on 8/15(11:30am-6pm) at the Tigard pool and adjacent Soccer field!

This will be a great event for the whole family to attend- Bands, Food, Inflatable obstacle course and bounce house, Water fun activities.   Only $30 for family of 4 and that includes hamburger or hotdog meal for everyone in the family.  $10 for adults.   $8 for kids.   You can buy tickets at the pools or on line.
