The Foundation's Bridging The Gap
"Fund" Run is this Sunday, August 16th. It's one of the last major efforts
for the Bridging The Gap fundraising effort we have been working on over the
summer. BtG's mission is to raise funds to rehire some of the teachers
that were released due to budget cuts. Less teachers means larger class
sizes, reduction in elective offerings, or elimination of programs. In
other words a lower quality, and less well-rounded education for our
children.
Many of your kids are involved in fall sports - cross
country, football, soccer, fall baseball and basketball. This run will be
great cross training for them! Bring the whole family. Invite your
running and walking partners! It's a great community event,
too.
The Fund Run offers 3 distances - 10K run (chip timed),
5K run or walk (chip timed) and 1 mile run or walk. Awards will be given
for top 3 finishers in age categories, both for men and women. We'll have
post-race food and drink and some fun activities - dunk tank, obstacle course by
Velocity and steel drum music filling the air. RAFFLE PRIZES INCLUDE
RESTAURANT GIFT CARDS AND COLUMBIA EMPLOYEE STORE PASSES. Donations can also be
